I could never guess, but you can repair your Christmas tree lights quite easily using this method. Please note that this method helps with blown bulbs, and not loose or disconnected from the fixture bulbs.. Happy Holidays!

My partner used to work in a christmas shop and they apparently used some box they'd plug in the wall then the broken lights into the box and somehow it would make the blown light make a buzzing noise
Maybe it is possible to replace those broken lamps with some resistores?
