31. There evidently number four is a rude gesture and that's why in chinese culture they don't like number. Four, that's not true.
Do never count till 5 in front of people using binary on your hand. You wouldn't like what will come next 😂
I had to learn binary and hexadecimal numbers when I was on a IT Vocational College.
This would have been probably less cumbersome for learning but memorizing them in your head wasn't so bad either 😀

so when i use a inrunner motor. This motor is using electromagnets on the outside. So dos i ned then more current for this motor in a aluminium tube, than without a tube because of the eddy current law?
You can take much further with just a little bit of creativity. You can count with knuckles and finger segments too and you can flip your hands palmside up and down, vertically, horizontally. You can continue counting with the segments of your arms or you can make forms with your arms like a cross, up and down, horizontal and vertical, close together and far apart etc etc. You can combine binary with different bases depending on how many states a certain factor has. It only needs to make sense to yourself.

i know ASL/FSL and omg watching people on their hands drives me crazy… such wasted finger usage…. this is actually better than most finger counting

I was so nerdy in highschool, when I learned this, I used to give people high 31s.
Also I find it much more dramatic to show that you can actually count to 1023 if you use both hands, but I understand why you didn't show this in a 30s short lol.
I was going to say you can count to 35 on your fingers using a heximal system, but that requires two hands…

It is in fact genuinely useful, if only as finger exercise for guitarists.
Chinese don't like the number 4 is because the pronounce of "4" in Chinese is similar to "die".
You can count even higher if you use a trinary system by having a finger halfway up count as 1 and fully extended counts as 2. 🙂
