How about powering a led with a piezo clicker, like the ones in BBQ lighters, don't those give out a enough power per click to run a light for some time and how would one harvest it to be released slow enough for said led to run

Sometimes when I watch your videos I'm so scared I need to hold my phone away from my face. The main lines powered switched circuit + scope, was such a moment. And discharging the flash cap of course.

I don't know why i don't care too much anymore

The reason your diodes were blowing up with the series cap on AC is that they don´t stop the current flow in the reverse direction, they break down at -30V or so.
Just put two diodes antiparallel and drive them through a series cap. This hack will work, however it´s dangerous to let it run as a night light or so.
The cap may catch fire some day due to surge based dielectric breakdowns. It´s safer with an X2 foil cap and a fuse!
