Did you know every lighter with a piezo-igniter has a microphone component inside??!!

#Piezoelectric
Hi, I'm stuck at home bored out of my brain and for future people who are watching this video it's during 2020 pandemic and everyone is stuck at home, trying to flatten the curve. So I was just looking at these flames and thought to myself. Is this a microphone? Is it possible that the FBI is spying on us using our lighters? No no hear me out: I'm not totally crazy, yet this might be a microphone because it has a appears of crystal in it. Now, if you want to know how piezo effect works, go watch steve, moulds, video who describes it in crystal level, but in general appears of crystal.
If you apply voltage across to specific surfaces it contracts or expands over reversely. If you push and pull on the crystal it generates voltage across it, so it can act as a load and if you smash it, it can also act as a generator and provide some power. Now it's made of different material, like ceramic, is one type yeah like ceramic quartz langa site, which is la3 g85 SiO 14 doesn't matter so this thing has piezo crystal in it and it hammers, on top of it so hard that it generates very high voltage that Generates arcs in the tip I don't know, can you see that all sorry, hammering it hard, could create five to ten kilo volts, but we don't need such huge voltage for audio signals. I'm guessing even my voice, vibrating.
It could create decent audio signals, so it could be a microphone, let's see if we can be Samantha lit and get to the wires there you go so there are two contacts one here connects to the metal body and the other one is the tip here now. If you like to feel some electric shock, this should give you a very mild one yeah, it's more of a surprise that what yeah it's not too bad shocking! Now, let's see if I can record any audio from it. I hope it wouldn't look too stupid that I will be talking into a lighter. I'm gon na find a broken headphone and connect the lighter wires to the headphone wires and record audio.
Hopefully there we are an audio jack. Typically, there are four wires in a headset cable, and this green and red are their stereo left and right and the copper colored one is the ground and in my case this one is extra. I'll connect the ground to one side of the piezo and tie the two channels and connect it to the other side, so both channels would have the same audio input now to avoid being an absolute idiot and damage my devices audio input. I put two parallel: reverse diodes between my signal wires to limit the voltage between them below point seven volts.
Now all I need is to connect the piezo output across my wire and the only audio recorder I have right now is my camera's input, so I'm going to record on the other camera and slap like if you hear anything well, I guess FBI is not spying On us, through our lighters, that's a plus, I was hoping there would be at least something let's measure this thing so noisy. Well, let's try with something look at that: I'm not an absolute idiot sure, let's crack this open, you might be able to make it better. Hmm there you have it, the piezo keeps out, and it typically looks like this. This is one contact of the piezo, and this wire is the other side. Look how much more sensitive it is now that I pulled it out. I'm thinking, if I glue a large membrane to it, it might pick up the air vibrations better here it is, let's see if it works, any better. It works, but who saw a lighter can be a microphone. We have been bugging our homes with lighters.
Let's see if I can record on my camera now. Well surprisingly, it's not made to be a good microphone when I connect it directly to the camera. The camera voltage and input impedance loads it to zero. So the output of this has to go first directly into an amplifier to be strong enough, and now I'm trying to see if it's a speaker and when I connect it to a function generator or I can hear it very faint noise.
I don't know if you hear it at all or not: I'm gon na make it work one way or another. I'm gon na make an amplifier and feed it into it. Okay, I put an amplifier together and seems like it's working to some extent. I just hook it up to the camera and see what happens and that's not all.
They are trying to kill us slowly by excessive radiations. The best solution to that is to stay inside because your home walls, you know, filter radiation to big extent, and it also helps with the current pandemic, so stay home.
your channel is so insanely entertaining, not to mention I’ve learned more from these videos than my actual professor
There is a good news for you Brother i am from 2021 and we are getting vaccinated and lockdown is removed.
The fact that electro boom probably got paid to do that little bit of shilling at the end makes me a sad panda
Hello, I have used a small electric motor as a speaker!🔊 Just cut a speaker out and replace it with an electric motor, then turn up the volume and the motor acts like a speaker! Woohoo! (Not mains power!!, ⚡Just batteries only!!)🔋
Very informative video, but calling a piezo crystal a microphone is the same as claiming a bag of flour is a loaf of bread.
I sometimes like to imagine how many videos he has on his computer of him talking for 10 minutes until he realizes his idea doesn't even work
Can you power that mic preamp circuit with usb 5V power, or do you need to change the values or resistors?
and are science teacher dose it again yeaaa for science that mic was sweet now you can talk to paper as a microphone . next how to make clean energy generator use the deep underground energy AKA lava
You were holding the membrane that was supposed to be vibrating.
but even then it should've picked up SOMETHING,
idk
